HPxD to Host Interior Design Students from SCAD for Design Experience

High Point x Design (HPxD) has shifted gears after High Point Market and hosted almost 50 interior design students from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for an immersive High Point design experience Oct. 30 – Nov. 01.

HPxD’s SCAD tour included stops at the Gallery on Main, Verellen and Baker manufacturing facilities, Davis, Sherrill Furniture, Stabb Design, and Herzog Veneer furniture showrooms, and Kravet and Culp textile showrooms.

The students also had a chance to tour Otto & Moore furniture design studio which is hired by national brands Universal, Bernhardt, Jonathan Charles and others for product development and furniture design.

Tour stops will also feature a stop at Barbour Spangle Design, to see how a design firm is organized and operates. Splashworks will showcase their company’s designs and manufacturing of acoustic panels and art in High Point.

HPxD and Cohab.Space have planned a visual merchandising competition where SCAD students will be tasked with designing the showroom’s street-facing windows on English Road. Johnny Davis Digital will take photographs and video of this event.
