ISFD Innovation + Design 2022 Awards People’s Choice Photography Winner

As part of the International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD) INNOVATION + DESIGN 2022 exhibition local photographers were invited to shoot the INNOVATION + DESIGN finalists’ projects and enter them into the People’s Choice Photography competition.

The submitted photos were displayed on an art wall and voted on by the exhibition visitors. This year’s winner, announced at a live celebration co-hosted with Theater Art Galleries (TAG) on Oct. 13th, was Miles Sherrill from Miles Sherrill Photo who shot the Cio Armchair designed by Brian Boggs.

“This year we had 17 professional photographers participate in our INNOVATION + DESIGN People’s Choice Photography competition,” stated John Conrad, ISFD executive director. “As part of the exhibition, we created a fine art exhibit at the Campus of Congdon Yards in High Point and encouraged visitors to vote on their favorite photo.”

Conrad continued, “The competition was tough. Selecting just one photo to vote on was a difficult task since so many entries were very artistically designed. We collected more votes than last year, and the results were close, but Miles’ classic interpretation of the Cio Armchair was the favorite. He received a $1000 check for his winning entry.”

North Carolina-based Miles Sherrill specializes in editorial portraiture and commercial photography. He is also a staff photographer at Diana Parrish Design and Photography. With over 20 years of experience, Sherrill photographs various subjects including people, fine art portraiture, families, brands, still lifes, and the odd things that catch his eye.

Sherrill graduated from Appalachian State University in 2002 and started photographing home products for commercial print ads. His real passion is capturing people and transforming seemingly ordinary people into complex individuals. When not photographing commissioned portraits, he indulges in creative projects and collaborations with other artists along with spending time with his family and lazy dog.

INNOVATION + DESIGN 2022 is supported by ISFD, and partners: Alderman Company, Bienenstock Furniture Library, Congdon Yards, Furniture Today, High Point Market AuthorityIFDA, International Market Centers, Packaging Center Inc, Phillips Collection, Theatre Art Galleries, HPXD, The Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation and Visit High Point.
