IKEA U.S. will be closing their Queens location at the Rego Center to customers effective Dec. 3, having opened approximately two years ago in Jan. 2021.
At the smaller Planning Studio at IKEA in Queens, customers experienced a new IKEA format that differed from the Planning Studio in Manhattan (opened April 2019) and traditional IKEA stores.
They were able to take home portable home furnishings, set-up delivery for a flat rate for furniture pieces, have the ability for a seamless shopping experience with self- or assisted check-out and schedule time with an IKEA co-worker to design your space.
When it opened in 2021, Shabab Mollai, Market Manager of Ikea Queens, said, “We’re excited to welcome New Yorkers to our new store in Queens. Every detail was created with the unique needs of New Yorkers in mind, from the proximity to public transportation and delivery and assembly options, to the wide product range curated specifically to meet their dynamic lifestyles.”
IKEA remains committed to the New York City area, planning another store in Manhattan as soon as a suitable location can be found.
Ikea.com explains that customers can also visit one of four other IKEA stores in the greater New York and New Jersey area, as well as shop online.
