In a challenging economy and labor market, Diamond Mattress is demonstrating how its focus on employee engagement is paying off as it spotlights several team members with more than 25 years of service.
Among the roster of almost 200 Diamond team members, three have served the fourth-generation mattress manufacturer for more than a quarter-century. Many others deserve honorable mention with 26 serving more than 15 years; 36 with over 10 years; and almost 100 with at least 5 years.
“Simple fact: There is no growth, no success without people power. Yes, it’s important in a tough labor market, but it has always been a core value for us at Diamond as a family-owned and operated company since its founding. We are blessed to have wonderful stories of longevity within our company,” said CEO Shaun Pennington.
Marina Bautista started at Diamond as a seamstress and is masterful at 26 years in her position. With 28 years of service, Ismael Ruiz is currently Shipping Lead and has worked in various roles from sweeper and bagging machine operator to scheduler. A Diamond veteran of 50 years, Anthony Ribali started in mattress build up, transitioned to shipping roles, was plant manager for some time, and now serves on the purchasing team.
“Diamond has always been a family business, from Pearl to Dick, then Randy and now his kids, Breana and Shaun. I’ve worked with great people throughout the years who helped instill in me a strong work ethic, and whatever you do, perform the job in a way you can be proud of your work,” said Ribali.
The company’s investment plan for the coming year is largely focused on “People and Processes” with an emphasis on personnel development to improve recruiting and hiring, training across all types of roles, leadership development, and initiatives in employee engagement.
