Eames Recalls Desk and Storage Units for Lead Poisoning Risk

This includes products purchased between October 2020 and March 2022. The company said the surface paint on the tan side panels of the desk and storage units contains levels of lead that exceed federal limits, posing a risk of lead poisoning. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

The Eames line is manufactured by Herman Miller Inc. under a licensing agreement.

There have been no reports of safety or health concerns at this point. Eames said it is voluntarily recalling the products for the “safety and quality of their furniture.”

The company said consumers should stop using the products immediately and place it in an area where a child cannot access it.

When you contact Herman Miller, they will need to know your product number and FO number. You can find these printed on a white label that is attached to the underside of your product beneath the black Herman Miller medallion.
