After 50 Years, Lastick Furniture Going Out of Business

After half a century as a fixture in downtown Pottstown, Pa., Lastick Furniture & Floor Coverings announced it is going out of business as owners Jerry Lastick and Marsha Lastick-Petnick retire from the retail furniture business.
Lastick’s liquidation begins Oct. 6 across its massive 38,000-square-foot furniture showroom and the 5,000-square-foot floor covering showroom across the street. Leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) is handling all liquidation details and events.
Eli and Sonia Lastick founded the business with their son Jerold (Jerry) in 1973 in the former Block Furniture building at 310 E. High St. The business grew quickly and moved into its present location at 269 E. High St., which was a spinning wheel factory dating back to the early 1800s. Jerry’s sister Marsha Lastick-Petnick joined the business with her husband, Martin, in 1979.
The family-owned furniture retailer has drawn customers from as far as six surrounding counties. Lastick has received 15 consecutive honors in The Mercury’s Reader’s Choice Awards, powered by local consumer votes, and was recognized for honorable achievement as the Harry C. Kahn Memorial Retailer of the Year awarded by the Tri- State Home Furnishings Association.
“We believe the secret to the store’s success has always been based on “old school values, progressive products, tried and true vendors and superior customer service,” said Lastick. “We’re grateful for the support of the community and loyal customers and friends for so many years.”
