‘Game Day’ Theme, Fireworks Put Spotlight on High Point Market Neighborhood

A “game day” theme featuring prizes such as High Point Market parking passes and hotel accommodations will headline Fall Market activities in the showroom district known as Centennial Wrenn South.

The district, one of seven showroom “neighborhoods” that make up the market, is planning a host of engaging activities capped off with a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 – the day before the official market opening.

Market attendees can pick up a Bingo card at participating showrooms, and throughout the day, they may advance from building to building in the neighborhood, adding to their bingo card as they go. The cards will then be entered into a drawing for various prizes.

The program was developed by the High Point Market Authority in partnership with neighborhood ambassadors from Centers of High Point, Market on Green, and Riverside Furniture showroom buildings.

“We’re excited to welcome the industry to our first annual “Game Day” to kick off Fall Market with a full lineup of block parties, games, and, of course, furniture shopping,” said Carrie Cox, neighborhood ambassador for Riverside Furniture Corporation.

“This is a great opportunity to reach an audience that isn't familiar with all our neighborhood has to offer,” added Elaine Crowell, neighborhood ambassador for Centers of High Point. “The event additionally helps reinforce our message to High Point Market buyers that exhibitors in this neighborhood open their showroom doors earlier than the official opening on Saturday.”

The full event schedule will be available on the High Point Market website in mid-September. Bingo cards may be picked up during Market at any information booth or at participating exhibitors.

“New product or vendor discovery is a perennial task for High Point Market buyers, and we know that sourcing showrooms located across 13 city blocks can be daunting,” said Tom Conley, HPMA president and CEO. “Our neighborhood designations help to make the Market District more navigable, and the activation events will facilitate exploration of the buildings and exhibitors within each designated neighborhood.”
