Walker Furniture’s Second Feeding Vegas Campaign Raises Over $21K for Local Rescue Mission

Walker Furniture has announced it raised $21,700 from its second Feeding Vegas campaign, which ran 90 days through May 29 with a goal to feed more than 15,000 people. Co-owner Larry Alterwitz presented Las Vegas Rescue Mission with the check.

Walker Furniture guaranteed the first 10,000 meals. The community was able to participate because for every purchase made during the 90-day campaign, the company added one more meal.

Alterwitz and his granddaughter Sophia made the presentation to Las Vegas Rescue Mission CEO Heather Engle, development director Heather Williams and development manager Spencer Costella while mission residents had their lunch.

Feeding America reports that in Nevada, 373,370 people are facing hunger and of them 122,450 are children. Las Vegas Rescue Mission helps feeds thousands of valley residents.

“There is a lot to be proud of in our city,” said Alterwitz. “But there’s also a lot of need and feeding our community is one of them. No one should go hungry! That’s why we have partnered with Las Vegas Rescue Mission.”

“The Las Vegas Rescue Mission has been feeding people for 51 years and with this added support from Walker Furniture we will make sure no one is left hungry, said Engle. “We are honored to partner with Walker Furniture, and I thank them for supporting us so we can serve our community.”
