Leone di Fiume Popular Among Interior Designers

Yasemin Teke Arslan, founder and creative director of Leone di Fiume, a handblown glass and candle company, said the company is seeing an uptick in its products being used by interior designers not only for accessories in a new home, but also as a parting gift with their clients.

Leone di Fiume candles not only add a warm and welcoming scent, but after the candle burns down, the beautiful glass vessels can be repurposed and used as a decoration.

“On the day of the big reveal, after a design plan is implemented and complete and all the furnishings installed, it’s long been tradition for interior designers to leave potted orchids or other floral arrangements throughout a space, just before they walk their clients through their newly transformed spaces,” Arslan described. “But we’re seeing a growing trend in designers choosing to use our candles and home fragrances to make a very special, and lasting impression.”

Indeed, Arslan said, “candles add ambiance, atmosphere, and elegance, and particularly when a designer becomes associated with a signature scent and candle design, our candles can become their special calling cards.”

Arslan encourages her interior design customers to follow the five senses rule – a technique connecting with each of the five senses: sight, touch, hearing, smell, and taste – when presenting clients with a new space, and that begins with lighting aromatic candles just before the walk-through to set the stage.

Some of her personal favorites for client gift-giving are part of the company’s Divina collection, which consists of nine unique designs. The Zodiaco candle, decorated in a calming blue glass, has bursting notes of lavender with refreshing Mediterranean lemon that lingers underneath blends with amber and musk, combining floral and woody scents. The Lumina fragrance focuses on both spicy and fruity notes. Incense, cedarwood and pink pepper create a welcoming and comfy environment. The contrasting notes of ylang-ylang and caramel add a touch of balancing sweetness, with a simple white and gold design. The Luna and Sole candles have a creative gold design, with base notes of vanilla and coconut followed by a strong rose scent.

“The design patterns on these crystal pieces are decal printed artisanally by our craftspeople using 24k gold, then hand-painted with glass colors and fired,” Arslan said. “For the candles inside the decorated glass, we use perfume-grade essential oils created by a Switzerland-based fragrance house to create a unique aromatic experience. My favorite design, the Atlante Nero, was inspired by horoscopes, which makes it a very personal gift for a client, and the scent is euphoric, with notes of mandarin and ylang-ylang, and a warm sandalwood blend ideal for living spaces.”
