Leone Di Fiume’s Masculine Scented Candles See Spike in Sales Before Father’s Day

Leone di Fiume, a luxury handblown glass and candle company, has announced an uptick in sales of scented candles in handblown glass as Father’s Day gifts, a notable change of course for products typically associated with female consumers. A stylish product that can be reused as a decanter or desk accessory handsomely packaged in a polished wood box is showing traction.

The most popular versions of the candles come from the company’s Iconica collection are particularly popular with men, who gravitate toward the limited-edition tobacco and Pelle   fragrance, as well as the Cannella and Grande Marron scents.

Creating scents that attract both men and women is crucial to Leone di Fiume, but the functionality of the pieces they create are also one of utmost importance, according to Yasemin Teka Arslan, daughter of Musa Teke, a well-known master glass blower and founder of the luxury glass company. “We employ only perfume-grade essential oils, created by a fragrance house based in Switzerland, and long after the fragrance of the candle is gone, the functionality of the glass remains for consoles, mantles, offices, occasional tables, sideboards and dining tables,” Arslan said.

The artisanal Tabacco & Pelle candle, which retails for $132, is made of mouth-blown glass in a modern geometric design pattern. Featuring hand-painted artwork, the candle is engraved by Leone di Fiume craftsmen and craftswomen using diamond blades. The limited-edition fragrance features strong notes of tobacco and leather to create a masculine appeal. At the base notes, amber, patchouli and tonka beans merge seamlessly, revealing the perfect balance of spicy and woody accords.

“Candles make stunning and memorable gifts for the men in your life,” Arslan explained. “Each of our candles is a true work of art and function as unique home décor accessories with designs that are hand painted, sandblasted and fired in a kiln to create head-turning items that serve more than one purpose.”

Cannella, which retails for $122, and Grand Marron, which retails for $235, are other ideal options for Father’s Day gifts. Cannella is enveloped with rich notes of orange peel, red apple and cloves, with spiced cinnamon and pumpkin accents at the heart of the scent. The mouth-blown Grande Marron features a bark motif. Symbolizing the secrets of wisdom and a deep-rooted life, the tree’s broad outer trunk and thick bark are believed to reflect long life, fertile soil and sacredness. This fragrance profile reveals strong notes of tobacco and leather, with notes of amber, patchouli and tonka beans, creating a dark, masculine appeal alike Tabacco & Pelle.

“Men today often take great care in their presence and appearance, and that is true about their fragrance and living spaces as well,” said Gozde Kristal Kadercan, marketing director at Leone di Fiume. “My husband, as example, loves our brands. He says, ‘Please take that tobacco scent home. I love that one.’”
