Carmeon Hamilton to Keynote ASID GATHER Conference

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has announced that Carmeon Hamilton, ASID, will anchor GATHER, the National Conference by ASID. Representing the inspirational next generation of design, Hamilton joins thought leaders across the design community who will speak at the conference in Miami, Florida, September 21-24, 2022.
“ASID is thrilled to welcome all members of the design community to share ideas, network, and learn from and inspire one another at GATHER this September,” said ASID CEO Gary Wheeler. “We are proud to feature Carmeon Hamilton as a guiding light in this forum to spearhead important discussions about the future of design. Carmeon first joined ASID as a student member, and now as an NCIDQ-certified designer, she has the education, training and credentials to practice design across all sectors of the profession. Her vast and varied experience, together with her inspiring story and refreshing outlook, will help facilitate important dialogues about the future of design across the entire design community, members and non-members alike.
Named one of Architectural Digest’s Nine Rising Stars in Design, Hamilton is a Memphis-based interior designer and Creative Director of Nubi Interiors with 15 years of comprehensive design experience. She is also known as a winner of HGTV’s Design Star: Next Gen and the star of HGTV’s Reno My Rental. Her experience in the design industry, including public health, retail and residential, has shaped her approach which centers around discovering beauty in everyday spaces and elevating everyday experiences—a philosophy that transcends all her work.
Hamilton’s keynote address will explore the Diversity of Practice – from health care to residential to retail to an environmental curator – and a stop at HGTV along the way. Her keynote address will offer insight on her non-traditional career path and finding beauty in unexpected places. As a distinguished and successful interior designer who first began her relationship with ASID as a student, Carmeon demonstrates resilience within the industry and will serve as an inspiration to members and nonmembers alike.

Carmeon Hamilton is a Memphis-based interior designer, content creator and lifestyle blogger spearheading her brand, Nubi Interiors, winner of HGTV’s Design Star: Next Gen and star of HGTV’s Reno My Rental. Her 15 years of experience in multiple facets of the design industry, from public health-care to residential to retail and merchandising, is the foundation of her work in discovering the beauty in all things and helping others find beauty in what surrounds them every day.

Alison Faecher’s approach to design is based on a unique blend of creativity, empathy, and expertise. A relentless advocate for enhancing the human experience, Alison recognizes the key role environments play in our health and wellness. Alison’s breadth of work spans healthcare and senior living project typologies in her role as Interior Design Principal in the Boston office.
Ruju Jasani, founder of Jasani Studio, NCIDQ, SEED | Speaker
Ruju Jasani is an interior architect who works across retail, hospitality and entertainment. As founder of the San Francisco-based Jasani Studio, Ruju designs for social wellbeing as well as business outcomes. Her projects in the United States, India, and Mexico have earned awards from design:retail, VMSD, and IIDA. Ruju has a BFA in Interior Architecture from Academy of Art University and a BA Honors in English from University of Mumbai. She is a member of ICSC, IIDA, AIA and SEED.
Karen McCallum, senior director design of CBRE Design Collective | Speaker
Karen McCallum, ASID, LEED AP has 18 years of experience as a certified interior designer in the A&D industry, since obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from University of Florida. In her current role as Senior Director of Design for the Americas at CBRE Design Collective, she specializes in creating thoughtful and innovative design solutions for her clients.
Kay Sargent, senior principal/director of Workplace at HOK, FASID, CID, LEED AP, WELL AP | Speaker
With 37 years of experience, Kay is a recognized expert on workplace design and strategy issues and an award-winning designer. Kay is Global Co-Director of HOK’s WorkPlace team and sits on HOK’s Board of Directors. In 2020, she was named ASID’s Designer of Distinction. She has been selected to provide Congressional Subject Matter Expert Testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives on “Federal Real Estate Post-COVID-19: A View from The Private Sector.”

Alan M. Siegel has 40+ years of legal experience within the design and architectural industry and has represented the interests of interior designers, architects, product designers, and industry resources. For over twenty years, Alan served as national legal counsel to ASID, and is the author of the ASID interior design form contracts. Alan was named an ASID Honorary Fellow for his years of service with ASID.
