As Ikea continues its journey to become a circular and climate positive business by 2030, the Swedish home furnishings retailer has made its Buy Back & Resell program permanent across 37 U.S. stores after piloting the offer last summer.
Key details of the program:
- While 33 stores participated in the nationwide pilot, four additional Ikea stores are participating in the permanent service – College Park, Md.; Carson, Calif.; Centennial, Colo.; and Brooklyn, N.Y.. Find the full list of stores here.
- Ikea Family members will have the opportunity to sell their gently used Ikea furniture back to Ikea in exchange for store credit. They will be instructed to go online and complete the Buy Back & Resell form to have their furniture considered and inspected in person at a participating location.
- All gently used furniture approved for resale and brought back to a participating IKEA location will be resold in the store’s AS-IS area, which will provide an even more affordable option for many people.
This Earth Month, Ikea is highlighting local actions, like the Buy Back & Resell service, where the company is aiming to make a world of difference by being a responsible neighbor and inspiring others to make small changes that have a positive impact on the planet. Other examples include how nearly all stores have a rooftop solar array, along with other features like EV chargers, LED lighting, geothermal systems, fuel cells, solar car parks and EV yard trucks that make IKEA a uniquely sustainable retail destination.
