Century-Old Pennsylvania Furniture Store Announces Close-Out Sale

NB Liebman, a family-owned furniture store with more than 100 years in business, including 76 years in the Harrisburg, Pa. area announced it will close its doors.

NB Liebman will kick off its store-closing sale to the public on Friday, April 1 at 4705 Carlisle Pike St. Leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) is handling all liquidation details and events across the 50,000-square-foot store.

“My deepest gratitude to all the people who’ve been part of NB Liebman, from the countless families we served to the wonderful store staff who became part of our family,” said Liebman. “I’ve been personally privileged to serve this community for more than 50 years of the company’s history.”

NB Liebman opened its first store on Derry St. in 1946. At the height of the Liebman family business, there were 10 stores operating from Allentown to downtown Philadelphia and stretching as far as Baltimore, Md. and Cherry Hill, N.J.

Liebman’s father, Nathan, who opened the first Harrisburg store, was raised in Philadelphia by his older siblings who started Liebman’s in the early 1900s after coming to the U.S. from Russia. Charles

began working in the business upon graduation from college and, in 2000, his youngest daughter, Dani Liebman Healey, became the third generation to join the company.

NB Liebman was named the Most Recognized Furniture Dealer in the Harrisburg market by the American Opinion Research Group, and through its years, the company received numerous awards from organizations and the media for its participation in community service. The company was featured as the region’s “Leading Furniture Store” for multiple years in Susquehanna Style Magazine and Harrisburg Magazine. In addition, NB Liebman partnered for many years with local TV station CBS-21 on its “Houseful of Furniture” contest that awarded families in need with free living room, bedroom and dining room furniture. The business was nominated twice as “Retailer of the Year” by the Tri-State Home Furnishings Association. N.B. Liebman was a 30-year member of the Styletrend buying group and served as its president for two years.
