Hall of Fame architect and interior designer Lauren Rottet, FAIA, FIIDA, has been honored for renovation and repositioning of the historic Fondren Mansion, La Colombe d’Or, in her hometown of Houston, Texas.
La Colombe d’Or swept the Western Hemisphere at the International Property Awards, which celebrates the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry. The project was honored as Best Mixed Use Interior in four categories; 5 Star Award Winner for Texas; 5 Star Award Winner for USA; Regional Award Winner for the Americas and lastly International Award Winner.
“We are extremely pleased to receive this prestigious recognition and preserve such an important property in our city’s rich history,” said Rottet, who was also responsible for the renovation of The Surrey Hotel in New York City’s Upper East Side.
La Colombe d’Or, located in Houston, is named after the iconic property in Saint-Paul de Vence, France, and combines the charm of old-world Houston with the polish of contemporary architecture. The development is comprised of a new 283-unit high-rise luxury apartment tower, together with a 32-suite historic mansion hotel and bar/restaurant, all adjacent to Zimmerman Park.
The juxtaposition of the mansion’s Southern charm with the tower’s modern vibe also underscores an impressive art collection of over 350 pieces positioned throughout public areas and guestrooms.
The International Property Awards are judged by an independent panel of more than 100 industry experts. Judging focuses on design, quality, service, innovation, originality and commitment to sustainability. The Awards are in their 28th year and cover over 45 various residential and commercial categories. Winners were selected from almost 2,500 entrants.
