2022 by Laurie Northington in Business Strategy, Designer Weekly, Industry
In this new full-time position, Dagmi will manage the organization’s day-to-day operations, including budgeting, communications, events, design and industry relations, and membership development. The managing director reports to HPxD’s twelve-member board of directors.
HPxD board chairman and Splashworks owner Tom Van Dessel explains, "High Point x Design has flourished as a grassroots organization with a great board, community support and amazing volunteers. We are at a point where managing director is needed to move HPxD forward purposefully. Jane is the ideal person for this new position. She’s been part of the group - albeit on the sidelines - since HPxD’s inception and brings an amazing skill set to the role. We are ready to grow."
Prior to joining HPXD, Dagmi was at the helm of Designers Today for four years and was instrumental in elevating the magazine’s brand visibility and expanding the community around it. Her decision to make the change was motivated by several things, most notably, a desire to contribute to the local community through her strong affection for the design community.
“High Point is the perfect haven for designers and design can be such a valuable and vital part of the city’s evolution,” says Dagmi. “COVID opened our eyes and allowed us to see the relevance of having High Point showrooms accessible to the trade off-market, to meet designers where they are. I am honored to be chosen as the person to rally the players and continue making this HPxD an irresistible reality.” says Dagmi, who became a High Point citizen in 2019.
