Hobby Lobby President to Keynote Furniture Fellowship Breakfast at Spring Market

Steve Green, president of multi-billion-dollar arts and crafts and home décor retailer Hobby Lobby Stores, will keynote the 28th Annual Furniture Fellowship Breakfast here on Friday, April 1 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Green became president of Hobby Lobby in 2004, leading growth of the family business to its current 956 stores in 47 states with over 43,000 employees. Green also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Museum of the Bible in Washington, DC, which expects its two millionth visitor this year after opening in 2017.
A frequent national speaker in both the business and philanthropy arenas, Green will share how his faith inspires his life endeavors and impacts culture, operations, employee relations and management decisions at Hobby Lobby during his breakfast message. Open to all High Point Market attendees and guests, the one-hour event will be held on the 11th floor International Home Furnishings Center Green Ballroom.
Like most businesses that will attend the breakfast, Hobby Lobby has experienced turbulent conditions during the two-year global pandemic. The company temporarily closed its stores nationwide for several weeks in 2020 and furloughed most employees. After reopening, the retailer has experienced surging customer demand in the face of supply chain and transportation bottlenecks and amid concern over employee morale and safety. Hobby Lobby addressed these issues and achieved the strongest sales growth in its history in 2021, allowing the retailer to continue its corporate practice of giving half of annual profits to philanthropy, Green said.
“The core value that has informed all our decisions through this challenging season and every season is that Hobby Lobby is not really ‘our’ business; it belongs to God,” said Green, citing Colossians 1:16 that “All things were created through (Christ) and for Him.” Green’s family founded the company in 1970.
Industry professionals will present the opening and closing prayers and New Testament and Old Testament Scripture readings during the event, and inspirational music will be provided by Guilford Online, a brother and sister duo offering Gospel music with a Bluegrass flavor.
Cost of admission for the breakfast is $30.00 for an individual, which includes breakfast. Platinum Sponsor for the breakfast is Holland House and their brands Davis International, Step One, Emerald Home and Davis Direct. Other sponsors are: Archbold, Barcalounger, Bernhardt, Broad River Retail, Elements Studio, Furnituredealer.net, Haverty’s, Hooker Furnishings, Karen McNeill, Legacy Classic, Nourison Rugs, Palettes, Planned Furniture Promotions, Pulaski, Stickley, Stump & Assoc., Universal, Uttermost, Violino and ASB Graphics/Acme Sample Books.
