Gold Bond Unveils New Luxury Magnolia Mattress

Independent bedding manufacturer Gold Bond has introduced the Magnolia mattress, a luxury product that is part of the company’s Organic Latex Collection and priced at $3,499 in queen.

As consumers have become better informed about the benefits of natural and organic mattresses, the market for these types of products soared in 2020 jumping by a record 12.4 percent, according to the Organic Trade Association.

According to Gold Bond, several factors have been stimulating this growth, including narrowing price gaps between organic and luxury mattresses, and the technology that has enabled textile manufacturers to create more fashionable ticking that make these products more appealing to the luxury buyer.

“Instead of a gap of a few thousand dollars between organic and luxury mattresses, more efficient manufacturing has narrowed it to a few hundred dollars. The luxury consumer is saying that if they can buy a product with more organic and natural components, and it is nearly the same price as comparable luxury offerings, they will opt for the more natural one,” said Robert Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond.

The other mattresses in the Organic Latex Collection are natural Talalay latex products, whereas the new Magnolia is an inner-spring offering. It features two-sided, edge-to-edge construction, Leggett & Platt’s 1057 coil Bolsa unit with quantum-edge for added support, a one-quarter inch needle-punched 100 percent organic wool insulator pad on each side, and two inches of 100 percent natural Talalay latex. The organic components in the mattress are sourced from GOTS-certified vendors.

The plush mattress has a 14-inch profile and includes certified organic cotton ticking quilted with two inches of organic and hypoallergenic wool. A heavy duty all wood foundation is also available in standard nine-inch or a low profile five-and-one half inch.

“Durability is another key element of what consumers are looking for today. They want mattresses made to last, not products where body impressions begin to emerge weeks or months after purchase,” Naboicheck added. “That is why this collection has one of the highest coil counts in the industry with two rows of quantum edge around the entire perimeter that creates a genuine wow feel thanks to Leggett & Platt’s 1057 coil Bolsa unit with quantum edge. We think it’s the finest coil system on the market today. Magnolia is the most comfortable and durable innerspring mattress we have made in our 122-year history.”
