City Furniture Publishes 2021 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

City Furniture, a family-owned American furniture and mattress retailer, fine upholstery manufacturer, and one of America’s Top 100 furniture retailers, has published its 2021 Corporate Social Responsibility Report (CSR) and 2022 Goals.

The company’s vision is to make the world a better place, and they do this year-round, company-wide, as documented by their innovative and comprehensive CSR Report, placing a strong focus on safety and their people, their commitment to their 5% Giving Pledge, and their 2040 Green Promise

“City’s corporate social responsibility strategy has always focused its energy and resources on where we can make the greatest impact on people, communities and the planet,” stated Andrew Koenig, City’s CEO. “During 2021, City continued to hone its commitment to improving the way we interact with the world in which we live. I am incredibly proud of the entire organization for demonstrating how our business can truly be a force for good.”

City’s 2021 CSR Report builds upon its desire to live CITY’s purpose – “To enrich people’s lives and make the world a better place.” The company’s CSR strategy is a roadmap for how it can best leverage its strengths and competitive advantages to provide value in three areas:

  • People— The company strives to create inclusive workplaces where all associates are empowered and respected. It is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for its diverse  community to grow.
  • Community — Giving back is embedded in City’s culture. The company remains steadfast in its commitment of support and driving positive change in the community.
  • Planet —The company’s brands strive to create the highest quality products with longevity and sustainability in mind. Operating responsibly helps City to lower its impact on the planet and to promote industry-wide environmental change.

As part of the Company’s 2021 CSR strategy, City is committed to ambitious, measurable goals with respect to COVID-19, the company’s Security & Risk protocols to improve Cyber Security, racial equality and economic opportunity for all associates, enhanced philanthropic giving and raising standards for a carbon neutral future. The 2021 CSR Report covers the company’s activities to drive meaningful progress toward those goals, along with major CSR-related activities planned for 2022.

“Being responsible corporate citizens drives our success at every level and is a commitment central to every decision we make today,” adds Mr. Koenig. “People want to do business with and work for companies that share their values and drive positive change. Being accountable and transparent, inside and outside of the company, is critical to our future success.”
