ISFD Announces 2nd Annual INNOVATION + DESIGN “Meet the Designers” Reception

The reception is at The Loft of Congdon Yards, 400 W. English Rd. in High Point. This event will pay tribute to the 31 finalist projects and recognize the winners of the INNOVATION + DESIGN Awards. All are welcome to attend, admission is free but registration is requested. The finalists’ exhibition will be on display and open to the public at the Loft at Congdon Yards, Sept. 20-24, 2021, from 9-5 p.m.
Guests are welcome to explore imaginative products, meet talented professional and student designers, and tour The Generator at Congdon Yards at the “Meet the Designers” reception. The Generator is an industrial-grade woodworking facility accessible to all furniture designers and makers, interior designers, and architects as well as all size furniture companies.
Also, at the reception, ISFD will be recording a live episode of Design Between the Lines as the INNOVATION + DESIGN category and best of show winners are announced. Design Between the Lines is the design and home furnishings podcast featuring the real game-changers, industry innovators and lifetime legends of the Home Furnishings Industry. Plus, on display will be large-scale photos of the finalists’ projects taken by area photographers as part of a photography competition. Guests can cast a vote for a “People’s Choice” winner of their favorite photo. Refreshments and desserts will be served.
The 2nd annual INNOVATION + DESIGN competition and exhibition is a juried furniture industry sponsored competition intended for professional maker/designers and the next generation of serious woodworking students who are anticipating a career in the custom wood and related home furnishings industries. The winners of the INNOVATION + DESIGN competition will receive cash prizes of $250-$1000 for professional and student levels based their level of creativity, originality, and craftsmanship. The design categories include seating, occasional tables, occasional storage, lighting, accessories, and dining room furniture. Plus, as an added bonus, winners will gain access to The Generator at Congdon Yards to help them take their furniture designs to the next level. The winner of the Peoples’ Choice Photography contest will be awarded $1000 for the best of show award after the votes are tallied.
