Walker Furniture Announces ‘Help for Heroes’ Recipients

Retailer Walker Furniture announced the recipients of its 2021 Help for Heroes Program during a ceremony and luncheon held on July 17. The seventh annual program provides furniture, some specialized to U.S. Military veterans.

“Walker Furniture created the ‘Help for Heroes’ program to help make day-to-day living a little easier for an often-overlooked segment of our community,” said Larry Alterwitz, CEO and owner. “This year the program is providing some relief for nine active military personnel and/or veterans.”

This year’s recipients selected from letters written by family, friends and community partners were reviewed by Commander Robert Bencsko and American Legion Paradise Post 149. Recipients included veterans from the Korean War, now in their 90s, Vietnam, and Iraq wars and issues such as cancer, PTSD and other misfortunes.

John Mull’s – Road Kill Grill provided lunch to the veterans and their friends and families while the Las Vegas Rescue Mission donated food boxes to each recipient. Yes Air Conditioning will do  a preventative maintenance HVAC and plumbing tune-up for the families in need.
