Abbyson Opens 2nd Distribution Center in California, Expands West Coast Network

Home furnishings industry leader Abbyson has opened an additional West Coast distribution center in Sacramento, California. The new building adds 400,000 square feet to its distribution network and will allow Abbyson to better serve its e-commerce retailers with faster West Coast outbound shipping.
This location is in addition to the company's Flagship distribution facility located in Redlands, Calif., and multiple facilities throughout the country. Centrally located to major shipping hubs, including ports, freeways, and third-party carriers, the new center expands Abbyson's distribution network.
"Investing in our supply chain with this new distribution center will allow us to increase our efficiency significantly," said Doddy Rafieha, EVP, Abbyson.
This new Sacramento center is designed to stock more than 400,000 square feet of expansive product staging areas and is equipped with 90 shipping and receiving docks. Similar to the Redlands Flagship Facility, Abbyson has equipped the new distribution center with state-of-the-art warehouse technology. Electric pallet jacks quickly move high volumes of product, and Turret forklifts that operate in 6-foot narrow aisles, significantly decrease the space needed between aisles of product. Infolink technology autopilots forklifts to picking locations, reducing picking errors, thus reducing labor and returns.
"Inbound container congestion, especially within the LA ports, has been an ongoing challenge," said Rafieha. "By once again expanding our distribution platform, we can continue to support our e- commerce retailers with a high percentage of in-stock available inventory, while diversifying port and shipping locations."
With this new facility, Abbyson distribution centers can now hold up to 6 million cubic feet of inventory. The company can continue to offer next-day ground shipping to 30% of the continental United States. Abbyson will start shipping out of the Sacramento, California facility as early as July 1, 2021.
