Capel Rugs Launches New Collections and Additions at High Point

Leading the way is Braymore, a tranquil, cozy hand knotted collection made in India that reinterprets timeless Ziegler and Ushak designs. Rendered in hushed tones with subtle color gradations created by 100% space dyed wool, this creative new collection puts a fresh spin of classic motifs. Colorways include ivory/slate, pewter, loden, silver/ivory and ice blue.

Braymore is available in five sizes -- 3' x 5', 5' x 8', 8' x 10', 9' x 12' and 10' x 14'. A 5' x 8' version may retail for under $1,199.

"With 15 knots per square inch and a pile height of one-half inch, Braymore is a lush, lovely collection that can go traditional or transitional, depending on its surroundings," said Cameron Capel, president -- sales and marketing for Capel Rugs.

Also in the spotlight in High Point is the new Birchwood collection. Birchwood's easy-care construction and multi-color hues make it the perfect fit for both indoor and outdoor use. Birchwood is machine made on Wilton looms in Belgium of 100% olefin yarns. Patterns include Keshan, Chevron, Kelim, Herlz and Palm, with styles that range from traditional to tropical to contemporary.

The new collection is available in three sizes -- 3'11" x 5'6", 5'3" x 7'6" and 7'10" x 11' -- and is priced to retail at under $249 for a 5'3" x 7'6" size. 

"The fresh, multi-color hues make Birchwood a perfect addition to any outdoor space," said Cameron Capel. "And the range of patterns, which include palm and chevron themes, provide a lot of versatility."

Seeking to help retailers and designers spark new business in the summer and fall selling seasons, Capel Rugs also is adding a new onyx colorway to the popular Marmara collection. The hand knotted design features a cascade of beautiful vines dancing across abrash fields of color. 

Sourced in India, Marmara is hand knotted of 100% wool. Each end features a lovely one-inch fringe for extra interest. In addition to the new onyx version, three other colorways are available -- pebble, slate blue and mushroom. Marmara may retail for $2,399 for a 5'6" x 8'6" size. Other options include 8' x 10', 9' x 12' and 10' x 14' sizes.

"Marmara offers a very upscale, sophisticated look with an erased, no-border design," said Capel. 

For the June market, Capel Rugs encourages retailers and designers to make appointments for their showroom visits, if possible, but walk-ins also will be welcome. Capel added that the company's sales representatives also can show customers the latest developments in the line via an in-store visit or through the convenience of an online Zoom conference session.

During market, Capel Rugs is offering a special promotion for in-person attendees on all new rug orders that exempts those orders from a price hike going into effect June 1. 

"Business remains strong, particularly online," Capel said. "Sales of our U.S.-made braided rugs have been very brisk, so we are hiring additional sewers to keep up with that demand and reduce any wait times on best sellers."

At this month's market, Capel Rugs also will be conducting a "sneak peek" of new designs being developed for two of its high-profile licensing programs -- Genevieve Gorder and COCOCOZY.  "We plan to expand both of these programs at the October High Point Market but have several new designs we can't wait to preview with our customers at the June market," Cameron Capel said.
