Hooker Furniture to Debut New Chapman Collection at June High Point Market

Hooker Furniture has announced it will launch the Chapman collection, a smaller-scaled, casual-contemporary whole home group at the June High Point Market. Targeting Gen X and millennials, the 55-piece collection features a curated mix of materials that present an updated look inspired by downtown urban living.

“Over the past several years, we have embarked on a transformation of our product line, adding more modern and updated styles to our portfolio to reach a younger demographic,” said Tim O’Hare, senior vice president of merchandising and design for Hooker Furniture. “Chapman aligns perfectly with this strategy, filling a style gap in our portfolio with a collection that offers contemporary styling with a relaxed, casual feel. Designed for consumers who may live in loft-style spaces or homes with open concept floorplans, pieces are smaller in scale, yet are thoughtfully designed to provide plenty of storage and exude a sophisticated style.”

The whole home collection includes bedroom, dining room, home office, occasional and accent pieces. Crafted with oak solids and veneers in a warm brown Sorrel finish, the group is characterized by its eclectic mix of materials including forged pewter, honed marble, textured hardware and shagreen accents. Several items are also featured in a Charred Black finish, which is achieved through Shou Sugi Ban, a Japanese technique that creates a look resembling burnt wood. Custom hardware, metal inlays and unique hand-hammered metal accents in a forged pewter finish add to the contemporary style.

Two bed options anchor the bedroom pieces, including a poster style with an upholstered headboard and adjustable posts, allowing the consumer to create a four-post look or a hi-low style and a panel bed with metal accents. Bedroom storage pieces include a variety of dresser and chest styles with contemporary horizontal parting rails and metal bases, which give the pieces an open and airy feel.

Dining tables include a leg, trestle and round table, each offering a unique style element such as metal ferrules, handcrafted joinery or a shaped pedestal base. Highlights of the dining storage pieces include a buffet table with a hand-textured metal base, a display cabinet with seeded glass doors and a sideboard featuring a contemporary geometric texture on its door fronts in a Charred Black finish with a Shou Sugi Ban technique.

A variety of occasional and accent pieces are available including a metal nesting side table in a hand-textured metal finish, a drum table with a marble top and a martini table with tall slender legs and a thick glass top.

Home office pieces include a writing desk with a contemporary metal base and a variety of modular bookcase and file storage units.

All pieces will be on display in the Hooker Furniture High Point showroom located on Floor 10, Suite C1058 of the International Home Furnishings Center. The Spring High Point Market is scheduled for June 5-9.
