Pleasant Mattress to Launch Airflex Brand, Targets Younger Consumers

Independent mattress manufacturer Pleasant Mattress has announced the debut of its AirFlex brand, a four-model premiere line of dual-sided mattresses targeted toward younger consumers who are looking for hand-crafted beds with natural materials and features that improve sleep quality.

The new collection was designed to work with platform bed bases, atop box springs or with adjustable bed bases, foundations that are more popular with a younger generation.

Inspired by a design originally developed by Edward McRoskey, founder of the San Francisco luxury brand, McRoskey which was acquired by Pleasant Mattress in January 2019 AirFlex takes the best of old-world mattress making and blends it with modern innovations to appeal to today’s consumers.

“The history of the AirFlex brand dates back to the 1920s, and while the heritage and the core tenets remain the hallmarks of our construction nearly a century later, it’s important to note that this is an entirely new collection, designed for today’s consumer,” said Rion Morgenstern, CEO of Pleasant Mattress. “Designed around the concept of understated luxury, AirFlex offers optimal support, cooling benefits and a durability story that is achieved through a combination of unique coil configurations, breathable materials and a mirrored mattress construction.”

Taking a cue from the California landscape where breathable Supima cotton – used to envelop the entire mattress in the line – is grown, the four models include Borrego, Dunsmuir, Mendocino and Ojai, all uniquely California locations well known to inspire the ultimate in luxury, relaxation, rest and restoration.

All models have brass air vents applied by hand and are covered with soft, woven Supima cotton to allow them to naturally breathe, thereby keeping the user cool at night. The double-sided design ensures that both sides feature identical layers of support, and also offers the ability to revitalize the comfort by flipping the mattress, thus extending its life. These design details, combined with eight reinforced box-stitched handles, provide a boutique look and feel.

Priced to retail from $2,000 to $4,000 in queen, the four models offer several layers of comfort to create the perfect combination of support and a luxurious feel. Borrego, a luxury firm mattress, is crafted with 1,041 pocketed quantum coils and four inches of aerated Serene foam. Dunsmuir, a gentle-comfort mattress, has 2,706 pocketed SoftTech microcoils and also has four inches of Serene foam. Mendocino, which is available in both gentle and firm comfort levels, is also constructed with 2,706 pocketed SoftTech microcoils along with five inches of all-natural Talalay latex. Ojai, also in both gentle and firm, has 660 pocketed coils and 3.5 inches of HD foam.

All models pair with any foundation without sacrificing on comfort. Working equally as well on minimalist platform bases, the AirFlex line also pairs with box springs and conforms effortlessly to adjustable bases.
