Jim Godby, founder of Godby Home Furnishings, has written a book titled “Living the American Dream,” available in limited edition at the Sheridan Historical Society museum in Sheridan, Indiana, according to a report from The Times.
Over the years, people who did not know his story have asked Godby how he got into the furniture business in the first place and how he managed to grow from a single store in uptown Sheridan to what is now a multi-outlet corporation across central Indiana.
Godby grew his furniture business from scratch and decided a few months ago to sit down at his computer and tell his story from the beginning to present day. There are no ghost writers, no big-name publishing houses and no endorsements from mega-authors or other famous individuals.
All proceeds for the book are being donated to the Sheridan Historical Society, reflecting on the fact that that the Sheridan community has been a favorite charity of Jim Godby and his family for years.
