HOM Furniture Achieves High Score Recognition from SFC

After making a pledge towards sustainability and joining the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC), HOM Furniture has announced it achieved a high score recognition on SFC’s 2020 Wood Furniture Scorecard, an annual honor that recognizes businesses that implement policies and practices to drive responsible wood sourcing.
“I am particularly impressed with the efficiency with which HOM Furniture worked this year on developing and adopting a robust policy for sourcing wood furnishings,” said Susan Inglis, executive director for the Sustainable Furnishings Council. “Being able to make good use of available resources to develop and implement policies is really smart business - and the planet is in enough trouble that we all need to be really smart and efficient about how we make improvements! I am delighted that HOM Furniture has joined us at Sustainable Furnishings Council and I congratulate them on the 2020 Wood Furniture Scorecard High Score achievement!”
HOM works directly with numerous furniture suppliers to reduce overall wood waste while crafting more sustainable products. We look to realize this through the active increase of reclaimed wood, recycled wood, and wood alternatives while working to eliminate the use of unacceptable sources and our reliance on virgin woods.
“Sustainability is an incredibly important movement in the world, and at HOM Furniture we wanted to show our commitment by joining the Sustainable Furnishings Council,” stated Kyle Johansen, Executive Director of Merchandising. He continued, “this will allow us to work and network with other like-minded organizations in our industry to improve our products, reduce our carbon footprint, and grow the awareness of this movement to our customers.”
