In 2008 interior design professionals Gail Doby and Erin Weir launched a new business as the country was sliding into the Great Recession. The goal was to help others achieve their business and personal goals. That risky move proved fortuitous as literally thousands of designers across the country and beyond found support and success through the live and online offerings of Gail Doby Coaching & Consulting.
Today, the duo and their team of professional business transformation coaches help design entrepreneurs’ triumph in both their professional careers and life goals. Throughout the process, Gail Doby Coaching & Consulting has grown, adapted, and modified along with their devoted legion of clients. Their services now include CEO-level mastermind groups and programs, development for leaders-in-training, professional growth initiatives for small- to mid-sized firms, short-series fast-start programs, and one-on-one VIP experiences.
In addition to the work they undertake for their clientele, Gail and Erin enthusiastically share their knowledge with the whole of the design world—interior designers, landscape designers and architects, product designers and even product manufacturers—to elevate the success and professionalism of the industry at every level. The two are in-demand speakers, presenters, and educators; they have written white papers and case studies; offered research and analysis; appeared on stage and video; they publish a weekly blog and inbox magazine; they regularly appear in print as guest columnists, authors, and to offer expert commentary; they manage private groups on Facebook and LinkedIn; and now they are podcasters.
Season One of the Creative Genius podcast debuted last week with 10 episodes featuring the duo sharing their rise to the top and engaging in sometimes deep, sometimes lighthearted conversation with a roster of design icons, noted authors and business disrupters.
According to Doby, the content of each podcast must be personal, transparent, and enlightening. “We are sharing at least three key takeaways on each episode that listeners can immediately apply to their business or life. We’re open about our journey of breakthroughs, problem solving, innovation and even hiccups in running and growing a business and finding enjoyment in each other’s perspective along the way.”
For the company’s VP, Erin Weir, the opportunity to bring elite expertise to their audience illustrates how the road to success isn’t a singular path but can be achieved through several avenues. “Often our most productive and evolutionary ideas happen outside of the traditional business setting,” notes Weir. “We would talk on planes, over meals, in a car and something fantastic would come out of it. Now, we have some of that innovative thinking right on the podcast. And, with the input of our guest experts, it is next-level good!”
From organizational psychologist and bestselling author, Dr. Benjamin Hardy to the founder of Improv LEAP, Joshua Kirk, authorities bring wisdom and wit to illustrate their strategies and recommendations. Design gurus like Jamie Drake, Garrison Hullinger and Lisa Kahn offer their different takes and trajectories on business and personal growth. Chuck Swoboda, a CEO, turnaround specialist and innovator-in-residence at Marquette University has no problem blowing up the traditional business models and replacing them with radically honest thinking.
“Creative Genius allows us to deepen our relationships with those we serve and to connect with others who can benefit from our own experience and that of world-class innovators,” says Weir and Doby.
Creative Genius podcast can be found on Apple Podcast, Stitcher, Blubrry Directory, Google Podcast, Deezer or at the podcast tab on the Gail Doby Coaching & Consulting website. Episodes for Season Two are in production and will debut in November.
