Bedding producer Eclipse International has transferred its Eastman House and Chittenden & Eastman license in Malaysia to Aerofoam, a latex producer and mattress manufacturer with a long history in Southeast Asia. The new partnership will position the two brands as Aerofoam’s high-end, luxury brands throughout Malaysia and Singapore.
Established in 1969 in Malaysia, Aerofoam produces the latex used in its pillows and mattresses. Currently, the company produces Therapedic and its own brand mylatex, an all-latex line of mattresses and pillows.
“Malaysia and Singapore have always been a strong region for us,” said Stuart Carlitz, president and chief executive officer of Eclipse International. “Aerofoam is a great manufacturing partner for Eastman House and C&E – Chittenden & Eastman. Well-known throughout the region as a multi-brand, dominant player, Aerofoam’s team has a clear strategic plan, a strong marketing team and a state-of-the-art factory filled with talented craftspeople. Our brands will be well-served by Aerofoam.”
The two companies have known one another since the early 1990s, and Carlitz said he is confident in formalizing the business relationship.
Both Eclipse International and Eastman House have had a strong presence in Malaysia and Singapore for more than 15 years through a partnership with Maeda Matsu Co. PPE Ltd. Peter Yau, the owner of Maeda Matsu Co., which operated as Eastman House of Southeast Asia, is retiring from the business, and recommended Aerofoam as his successor. The Eclipse and Van Vorst brands by Eclipse International are currently sold throughout the region by Luxury Sleep Ltd.
