            Smith Leonard: Furniture Orders Up 39% in July

Showing more improvements, new orders in July were up 39% from July 2019 and orders are now about even with orders for the same period a year ago, according to a report by the Smith Leonard accounting and consulting firm.
   The firm’s monthly survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors showed new orders increased for 88% of the participants for the month, but only 28% of the participants reported increased orders year-to-date.
The survey also showed shipments in July 2020 were basically flat compared with July 2019 with 56% of the participants reporting increased shipments, while backlogs grew to an increase of 69% over July 2019.
