The theme of the 2020 Pinnacle Awards is “Great Designs Unmasked,” a recognition of the need to change the Pinnacle’s normal gala format for 2020 as well as a chance to reveal to the world the positive impact good design has on mental and physical well-being.
“As we all can attest, this year has presented us with challenges, one of which is how to honor our Pinnacle finalists and winners for this well-deserved tribute while remaining safe and smart,” stated John Conrad, ISFD executive director. “Our solution was to tap into our creativity in a lively, fun and engaging way. That’s how we came up with the idea of a TV-style awards program meets late-night variety show.”
Presenters, stationed at design-centric locations around the country, including several High Point locales, will honor nearly 70 finalists in 20 categories. Musical guests, Turpentine Shine, will perform original tunes throughout the one-hour program. Viewers will be encouraged to participate in watch parties and virtual cocktail hours to amp up the celebratory nature of the event.
The Pinnacle Awards celebrate designs that are produced mostly in larger numbers for sale to consumers. Submissions were open to all furniture designers, manufacturers and design students.Recipients of the highly coveted Pinnacle Award are designers who are directly involved in the "design craft" of the products.
“I would like to thank the ISFD board, the judges and the 2020 Awards sponsors who made this all possible,” Conrad continued. “Those sponsors include the High Point Market Authority, Leggett & Platt, International Market Centers, Herzog Veneers, Inc. Continental Hardware, Furniture Today, Pinnacle Financial Partners, Furniture Design Studios, Senlong Wood Company, Sherwin-Williams, High Point University, and Elements Studios.”
