Myriad Software Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Retail management system Myriad Software marked its 30th anniversary in July. Founded in 1990 by Russell Higgins and Carolyn Crowley, Myriad is the first company to offer a PC-based, network-driven software and hardware solution for mid-size furniture retailers.

“The past three decades working with our clients and business partners have been extremely rewarding,” said Crowley, president. “We so deeply appreciate and value the connections we’ve made over the years, and we look forward to moving forward together as we continue to develop results-driven software solutions.”

Myriad has compiled a long list of achievements and milestones over the years, including:

  • One of the first woman-owned tech companies in the home furnishings industry
  • The first complete DOS-based retail management system (RMS) for mid-size home furnishings retailers
  • The first fully integrated Windows-based RMS for furniture retailers
  • The only complete web-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) RMS app (with its PointCentric solution)
  • One of the first web application offerings that can be accessed on both workstations, tablets, and other touch-centric devices, along with regular workstations
  • One of the first developers to introduce an easy-to-use customization feature, for both upholstery and case goods customization on a mobile app
  • One of the first RMS solutions that feature integrated accounting, EDI, eCommerce, POS, and CRM systems
  • Over the years, Myriad has also partnered with multiple companies, including Norwalk Furniture, La-Z-Boy, Bassett Furniture, Thomasville, Lane and Broyhill, eventually becoming a system of choice for their dealer/licensee programs.
  • Myriad currently is working with these integration partners on its web app platform, along with others.

“We are very excited about this year and the future of our web app, PointCentric, which we launched last year,” Crowley added. “Our goal is to continually provide home furnishings retailers with modern, cutting-edge technology for many years to come!”
