Ekornes, Inc. has announced that its Morganton, N.C. assembly plant will now produce power sofas, including Stressless Mary and Emily, along with the new Stressless dining program to be launched at the August Las Vegas Market.
“We are thrilled to be able to produce our popular motion sofas and dining chairs now in the U.S.,” says Peter Bjerregaard, president, Ekornes, Inc. “The new dining program is far superior than any other motion dining chair on the market, combining the comfort that Stressless is known for along with wider seats cushions, smoother mechanisms and more customizable options than in the past.”
The new Stressless dining program will add approximately 25% more seats per month to the plant’s current volume. The facility will be hiring at least six new employees to accommodate the growth in both motion sofas and dining chairs.
“Reducing lead times to our dealer partners and consumers is key. We know consumers threshold for custom furniture wait time is no more than 4 weeks,” says Bjerregaard.
Morganton also continues to produce PPE (personal protective equipment) at a rate of 2000+ gowns and hundreds of face covering masks per week to help support the Covid-19 pandemic.
