City Furniture Continues Growth Plan, Announces 175 New Job Openings

With its network of 33 showrooms open, home furnishings retailer City Furniture has announced it is currently looking to fill 175 new jobs in sales, e-commerce, digital marketing, analytics and IT.

“As Florida’s businesses reopen, we’re very fortunate to be continuing the long-term growth of our showroom and online presence in Southeast, Southwest and Central Florida,” said Andrew Koenig, president. “Finding career-focused people who are ready to excel and keep learning is essential for us. While the pandemic has caused tremendous pain and uncertainty for so many families and for our region’s economy, we remain confident in Florida’s future and our continued business growth.”

In addition to its immediate initiative to fill positions in South and Central Florida, the company is preparing to open a North Miami Ashley HomeStore location this summer. It is also planning to open a new 133,000-square-foot City Furniture superstore in Altamonte Springs in second-quarter 2021.

“It takes a fantastic recruiting team, great technology and innovation to find qualified talent in today’s challenging environment,” Koenig said. “Virtual job fairs through organizations such as CareerSource Broward and Indeed.com are a great way expand our reach to many people who are staying close to home. We’re looking for exceptional, hard-working and caring people who want a career, not just a job. At City Furniture, they’ll find a family-oriented company where there’s real opportunity to grow their skills, get great benefits and be valued as part of a team working in a fun and exciting environment.”

As it moves ahead with hiring, the company has stringent COVID-prevention protocols in place to ensure the safety of its customers and the 2,000 employees throughout its showrooms, corporate offices, distribution centers and 140-truck delivery operations. Showrooms that closed temporarily in recent weeks have reopened. The company’s warehouse, delivery and corporate offices are at full speed and working safely in the new COVID-19 world.

“As the world has changed dramatically these past few months, people need their homes more than ever, and we’re fortunate our customers are turning to us for help to transform their homes into their offices, classrooms, entertainment center, place of security, their staycation spots and so much more,” said Koenig. “With technology and mobility expanding people’s horizons, we expect that trend to continue well beyond today’s issues, and we’re growing our City Family to meet the challenges.”
