Independent sleep products manufacturer Southerland has announced its new easy-to-ship adjustable bed bases designed for common carrier shipment during rise in e-commerce sales.
Made in the U.S. as part of Southerland’s American Adjustables and InMotion brands, the power bases are delivered in a single box and the electronic controls in a second, smaller box. The base can be assembled in under less than 30 minutes.
“Over the last couple of months, the retail landscape has shifted from a mostly brick-and-mortar play to an online proposition, and retailers and their consumers are hungry for product that can be easily purchased and delivered practically touch-free to a consumer’s front door,” said Bryan Smith, president and chief executive officer of Southerland. “Our team of product designers and engineers worked diligently to develop the adjustable bed bases with that value proposition without skimping on the creature comforts consumers crave and with the same exacting quality standards of our other bases. We have the infrastructure in place to ship the bases directly to consumers from our warehouses.”
Priced to retail at $999 in a queen, the adjustable foundation is Bluetooth compatible and includes zero-gravity, head-up and foot-up capabilities, three pre-set positions, adjustable leg height and wireless remote control.
The pandemic has resulted in the shuttering of retail across the country, pushing consumers to shop more frequently online. According to ShopperTrak, a global provider of retail analytics, foot traffic to U.S. stores is down nearly 60% since the outbreak of coronavirus, while online sales have climbed 50%. Experts predict that the shift online will remain engrained in consumer shopping behavior.
