Precision Textiles, a supplier of coated fabrics, nonwovens and laminations for the bedding, automotive, health care and home furnishings industries, has designed and developed the first individually packaged hygienic mattress testing kit as part of its SlumberShield branded line of mattress and pillow protection.
Each kit contains a mattress and pillow sheet that retail sales associates can use when consumers rest test mattresses in the store.
With continued concerns of the COVID-19 virus, consumers may be cautious of lying down on a mattress in a retail environment out of fear of coronavirus transmission. The individually sealed kits are designed to be used in-store to protect against contagions. Consumers can lay on the sheet during the mattress trial, once used, it can be disposed of with the trash.
“While healthcare workers are working tirelessly to keep us safe, it’s important that safety precautions are put in place to protect the public against the continued spread of the virus,” said Scott Tesser, chief executive officer of Precision Textiles. “Mattresses come into direct contact with consumers as a key part of the buying process is the sleep test. To adapt to the current health crisis, the kits are sealed for one-time use to reassure consumers.”
The testing kits include a one 60-inch by 40-inch disposable flat mattress cover and one 15-inch by 20-inch disposable pillow cover. The thin fabric is made of an anti-microbial polyester-rayon blend that is soft to the touch, does not crinkle and does not impact the feel of the mattress or pillow.
“We believe that as stores re-open, this will become the new standard for sleep product shopping hygiene for some time to come,” Tesser added.
In April, Precision Textiles introduced its six-sided, fully enclosed SlumberShield mattress encasement that offers medical-grade protection from bacteria, allergens, viruses and fluid while providing a comfortable sleep environment that extends the lifespan of the mattress.
