Gold Bond Produces Over 3,500 Healthcare Mattresses for Connecticut

Independent mattress producer Gold Bond has announced its production of more than 3,500 healthcare mattresses for the state of Connecticut over the last three weeks, allowing the company to keep its 65 factory workers employed.

The mattresses are being distributed by the state to the Army Corps of Engineers for use in temporary facilities, including convention centers, that are being used as healthcare outposts, as well as in hospitals. Connecticut has had more than 21,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus and treatment beds are running low. Gold Bond is one of the few mattresses manufacturers still operating in the northeast during this crisis.

“Because of our strong heritage in the Hartford area and throughout the state, we are honored to have been chosen to help during this time of national crisis. Not only are we helping our neighbors with these mattresses, but it is also comforting to our entire staff because we are able to make an important contribution like this and help save lives at this time,” said Robert Naboicheck, president of Gold Bond Mattress. “Our production of these mattresses also enables us to maintain and pay our hard-working employees.”

The two mattress styles are encased in anti-microbial, hypo-allergenic and fluid-proof green vinyl covers. One model is an all-foam design, and the innerspring design is made with cotton from Gold Bond’s in-house garneting operation.

Gold Bond is putting its expertise to work in making mattresses for healthcare facilities and college dormitory industries to help relieve the bed shortage. The fourth-generation, family owned company has been in Hartford, Connecticut, since its founding in 1899, and is well-versed in manufacturing contract, healthcare and dormitory mattresses. Gold Bond is the go-to company for a significant number of boarding schools and high-end private colleges in the Northeast.
