IHFRA Cancels 2020 Furniture Industry Gala

The International Home Furnishings Representatives Association (IHFRA) has announced that it has cancelled this year’s Furniture Industry Awards Gala (FIAG) due to ongoing concerns stemming from the Covid-19 virus.

The annual event will be rescheduled to coincide with the April High Point Market in 2021.

Initially, IHFRA had hoped to host the gala, originally planned for this past April, at the upcoming October High Point market. However, “The IHFRA Executive Committee made the decision after consulting with industry constituents including members, retailers, suppliers and sponsors,” said Ray Allegrezza, executive director for IHFRA.

“While we were understandably disappointed and were looking forward to recognizing our outstanding honorees including Samuel Kuo, Andrew Koenig, Kathy Ireland, Kevin O’Connor, Geoff Weed, Marty Libowsky and Joseph Montero, our primary concern is for people versus a party and relationships versus sponsorships,” said John Pinion IV, president of the Executive Committee.

“Nothing is changing except the timing,” added Allegrezza.  “We will be back next April when our industry will be bigger, better and healthier.”
