Scott Perry Baronofsky, the director of digital marketing for bedding producer Eclipse International, died Saturday, April 18, from complications of the coronavirus. He was 60.
Baronofsky joined Eclipse International in 2015 after studying abroad and living in Israel for five years where he worked as a web designer. During his tenure with Eclipse, he helped elevate the company’s online marketing presence, developed its current advertising strategy featuring upscale lifestyle images and managed the photography needed in producing brochures and digital materials.
Baronofsky was the cousin of Stuart Carlitz, president and chief executive officer of Eclipse International.
“Scott was more than a cousin; I considered him my brother, and the contributions he made to our company were immense. I attribute much of our recent growth and success to his keen eye for photography, design and wordsmithing. During his time with the company, Scott ingratiated himself into the hearts of our team at Bedding Industries of America and Eclipse, which became his extended family. His quick sense of humor, infectious laugh and bright smile will be missed by all.”
Diagnosed with cancer in January, Baronofsky contracted the coronavirus while receiving treatments at local hospitals.
“Following Scott’s cancer diagnosis, Elis and I insisted Scott move in so that we could oversee his treatment and ongoing care. We will miss him immensely, as I know his extended family here at the company will,” Carlitz said.
Other survivors include his brothers Fred Baronofsky and Larry Baronofsky; sister-in-law Charlene; and niece Sierra.
Eclipse International will hold a memorial service for Baronofsky at its headquarters once the COVID-19 crisis passes.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Baronofsky’s memory to the Seena Magowitz Foundation for pancreatic cancer research or another cancer association of donor’s choosing.
