Doug Guffey Joins HSM as Director of Sales for Bedding Business

Guffey will be responsible for all sales associates and product managers in the bedding business, as well as assist in bringing new products to market. He will report to Tim Witherell, vice president and general manager of Hickory Springs bedding products.

Guffey joins Hickory Springs after eighteen years with Corsicana Mattress Company, where he served as a national accounts executive, prior to which he was director of national accounts. In addition, he also served as the president of Sleep Inc., a branded division of Corsicana Bedding. Throughout his time with Corsicana, he also served as general manager of operations at Corsicana’s facility in Shelbyville, TN.

Earlier in his career, Guffey was general manager of operation for Holder Mattress Company in Kokomo, IN., and prior to that, plant manager for Spring Air’s Alabama and Indiana franchises.

Guffey currently serves as chairman of the leading industry group the Mattress Recycling Council. He joined the council’s board of directors in 2015. He also served on the board of trustees for the International Sleep Products Association from 2013 to 2019.

A resident of the Corsicana, Texas area, Guffey studied business at Indiana University Kokomo.
