The licensing agreement between the two companies is effective immediately and includes the Eclipse, Eastman House, Ernest Hemingway, Pure Talalay Bliss and Velika product lines.
“We’ve known Biscayne Bedding for some time and respect the growth it has undergone throughout the years under the ownership of Jan and Silke Wettergren,” said Stuart Carlitz, president and chief executive officer of Eclipse International. “Eclipse and Biscayne have worked together in the hospitality segment for several years, and this formal agreement is a great extension of that partnership.”
Hialeah, Fla.-based Biscayne Bedding was founded in 1949 and today is owned by Jan and Silke Wettergren, who bought the company in 2011. The family-owned company supplies mattresses to sleep stores, traditional home furnishings retailers, interior designers, major cruise lines and more. Jan Wettergren, chief executive officer and president of Biscayne Bedding, spent a decade working for Serta and Spring Air where he oversaw operations and manufacturing for both companies prior to acquiring Biscayne Bedding.
“Jan will work closely with our quality control team and engineers in enhancing standards across our network,” Carlitz said. “His expertise will augment our strong in-house team of Russ Bowman, who leads quality control and sets standard operating procedures, and Gregg Tanis, the vice president of manufacturing for Bedding Industries of America.”
“I had the opportunity to attend a number of the group’s licensing meetings, and I liked the camaraderie and teamwork I saw in the network,” Wettergren said. “Our team looks forward to being part of the organization.”
