American Leather Holdings to Pull Out of Spring High Point Market

Premium furniture manufacturing group American Leather Holdings has announced that American Leather and Lee Industries will withdraw from their attendance at the Spring 2020 High Point Market in response to the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns in the U.S. and around the world.

The companies will still offer a full High Point Market experience for their customers and will have new and exciting collections to showcase through a virtual format. During the Spring Market timeframe, American Leather and Lee will offer multiple digital activities, which could include everything from a series of podcasts or webinars, virtual product tours, 360-view showroom presentations, and more. Details on these events are still pending and will be announced in the coming weeks.

“This was a difficult decision,” said Bruce Birnbach, CEO of American Leather Holdings. “However, after a lot of internal discussion, as well as advisement from public health resources, we decided that it’s in the best interest of our employees, our partners, our customers and our families that we cancel our attendance at Spring High Point Market. Through our upcoming digital initiatives, we will keep activities and new product initiatives moving forward.”

From an operational perspective, the manufacturing plants are running normally and supplies and inventory for both American Leather and Lee Industries remain well-stocked.  Both companies will continue to fulfill all custom order commitments as usual. According to Birnbach, as two of the strongest “Made in America” companies, both offer a broad selection for consumers today who are looking for well-made, sustainable furniture.

“We fully anticipate that we will resume our normal course for the Fall High Point Market, and we look forward to engaging with everyone again in person,” said Birnbach. “We also extend our thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this outbreak, and especially to the good people of High Point, North Carolina who depend on these events. We will continue to support them any way we can.”
