Dallas Market Center, Lightovation Updates Winter Dates

Dallas Market Center has announced an update to Winter dates for its Lightovation—Dallas International Lighting Show, shifting one day later to a Thursday to Sunday pattern beginning in 2021 to accommodate buyer and exhibitor preferences.

The summer edition of Lightovation, including the upcoming June 24-27, 2020 show, remains a Wednesday to Saturday pattern.

Dallas Market Center shifted Lightovation’s dates to one week earlier than in the past beginning with the January 2020 edition of the show. This decision was made after consulting with DMC’s Lighting Board of Governors, other exhibitors, buyers and sales representatives. However, following the first event under the new date pattern, the Lighting Board of Governors last month recommended beginning the January 2021 show a day later, on Thursday.

The new January dates will still provide ample distance between Lightovation and the International Builders’ Show, the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, and Design & Construction Week, as well as European trade events such as Maison & Objet, while also still avoiding show conflicts for the concurrent Total Home & Gift Market.

“This new date pattern allows Lightovation to remain the first lighting show of the year, free and clear of other trade events, and aligned with buyer and exhibitor preferences,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “It’s critically important to offer event dates that are most convenient for exhibitors and loyal buyers visiting Lightovation from around the world.”

The need for Lightovation to remain concurrent with the Total Home & Gift Market was underscored by a post-market buyer survey, where 93% of lighting buyers indicated that they carried home accessories and 76% said they found it beneficial to be able to shop both shows during the same trip.

Winter and summer show dates for the next three years will be as follows:

January 2021

January 7-10, 2021: Lightovation—Dallas International Lighting Show

January 6-12, 2021: Total Home & Gift Market

June 2021

June 23-26, 2021: Lightovation—Dallas International Lighting Show

June 23-29, 2021: Total Home & Gift Market

January 2022

January 6-9, 2022: Lightovation—Dallas International Lighting Show

January 5-11, 2022: Total Home & Gift Market

June 2022

June 22-25, 2022: Lightovation—Dallas International Lighting Show
