Alden Parkes’ Showhouse in a Showroom to Return to Spring High Point Market

The popular “Showhouse in a Showroom” concept, introduced by Alden Parkes at the Fall 2018 High Point Market, will return in April 2020. Following the format familiar from leading showhouses around the country, five designers with distinct points of view will create inspiration-rich spaces in the company’s Hamilton Wrenn Design District showroom using Alden Parkes’ high-style furniture, bedding from Wildcat Territory, and rugs from Capa Rugs.

Alden Parkes, which designs and manufactures both casegoods and upholstered furniture, is known for its artful combinations of exotic woods, carved details, and artisanal finishes. “The ‘Showhouse in a Showroom’ is a natural extension of our longstanding relationship with the interior design community,” says Lynne McArdle, CEO of Alden Parkes. “We love seeing the creative ways our talented Showhouse designers use our pieces, and we love sharing their ideas with our market visitors.”

For the Spring High Point Market, Alden Parkes invited designers Nicole Culler, Phyllis Martin, Niki McNeill and the team of Kurt Jacob Miller & Luke Mack to design settings around the Tradition Redefined, Casual Living, and Modern Glamour design themes. In addition to having access to Alden Parkes furniture and products from Wildcat Territory and Capa Rugs, the designers have complete creative control over wall colors, lighting, accessories and more. The projects are fully documented upon completion.

The five participating designers include:

  • Nicole Culler, Nicole Culler Interiors, High Point, NC:  A busy mother herself, Nicole knows the importance of designing spaces that are beautiful and functional for families. Living and working in the heart of the furniture industry gives her a unique first look at what’s coming next in the world of design. Nicole is interpreting the Casual Living theme.
  • Phyllis R. Martin, Covered Elements of Design, Atlanta, GA: Named an Interior Design Legend by the Black Female Interior Designers Association in 2017, Phyllis has spent her career creating timeless spaces for her clients. Known for her meticulous eye for detail, Phyllis is passionate about fine furnishings and the settings that show them off to best advantage. Phyllis is interpreting the Casual Living theme.
  • Niki McNeill, SingleBubblePop, Raleigh, NC: Niki’s career has taken her from a production assistant for HGTV.com to a respected designer in her own right whose work has been seen on HGTV’s “Design Wars” and the Emmy-winning “Elbow Room”. Her fresh, serene design aesthetic reflects her belief that the quality of the spaces that surround us contributes to our overall wellbeing. Niki is interpreting the Modern Glamour theme.
  • Kurt Jacob Miller & Luke Mack, Jacob-Lukas Design, Chicago, IL: The two partners of the Chicago-based design firm share a love of high impact design, whether it’s a whole house or a single table setting. Masters at mixing periods and styles, Kurt and Luke pride themselves on creating environments that are as practical as they are beautiful. Kurt and Luke are interpreting the Tradition Redefined theme.

The Alden Parkes showroom is open April 2429 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Marketgoers are invited to meet the showhouse designers in person at “Designer Celebration!”, a party with live music on Saturday, April 25 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The designers will also appear on a panel in the Alden Parkes showroom on April 25 at 3:00 p.m. as part of the series of CEU accredited seminars co-sponsored by Alden Parkes and IMC. The seminars are offered on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the Alden Parkes Showroom located in the Hamilton Wrenn Design District, 200 North Hamilton Street, Suite 110.
