Furniture First, a national buying group for independent retailers, has announced the addition of Knox Furniture, approved by the board of directors in their first meeting of 2020. The family-owned furniture store is located in Newnan, Georgia, about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta.
For 65 years, Knox Company Inc has been a staple of the Coweta County community. Roy Knox, Sr, a WWII Navy veteran, founded the company with his wife, Virginia in 1955. The business originated as Coweta Contractors, focusing on electrical contracting, before selling appliances and then furniture. The business has continually adapted to meet the needs of its customers in order to provide a premier destination for fine home furnishings and accessories. The store is now owned and operated by Roy Sr.’s son, Mark Knox, who is joined by a third generation. Knox Company Inc remains committed to providing a warm family atmosphere, strong customer service, and a variety of quality products.
“Businesses change and evolve over time and our goal at Furniture First is to help our members adapt and respond to changes in their markets” said Andrew Kauffman, CEO of Furniture First. “We have members whose family businesses were founded in the 1800’s. They are thriving today not because they ‘Do it the way it’s always been done,’ but because they update their strategies and merchandise to better serve the current needs of their customers.”
