Norwalk Furniture Forecasts Emerging Textile Trends for 2020
Upholstery producer Norwalk Furniture will highlight three emerging color and textile trends including new greens, spice tones and bold contrasts in its showroom during the upcoming Winter Las Vegas Market, Jan. 26 – 30. The three themes will be prominently presented across dozens of new silhouettes and a variety of best-selling pieces.
Derived from a creative process including global trend spotting trips, decorating trends in leading design publications, interior paint trends and key takeaways from ITA Showtime, the three trends – “Conservatory,” “Spiced Up,” and “Ebony & Ivory,” present nature-inspired palettes, warm spicy tones and several unexpected color – and reptile – pairings that create a bold, whimsical aesthetic.
“Several of the leading color trends for 2020 include palettes inspired by nature with an abundance of greens and spicy earth tones,” said Dixon Bartlett, chief creative officer of Norwalk Furniture. “Our Conservatory and Spiced Up color stories were inspired by hues that can help us find calm within the chaos of our tech-centric culture, evoking a sense of tranquility and peace.
“Yet, as with every trend, there’s always a counter-trend,” he continued. “Our Ebony & Ivory vignettes feature a variety of unexpected color pairings and playful patterns that create bold pops of color and a whimsical aesthetic, including a slithering snake or two.”
Conservatory reflects calming, nature-inspired palettes that have stood the test of time in interior spaces for decades and will continue their prominence in 2020 as the antithesis to the fast-paced world that seems to spin faster and faster each day. Featured in a variety of natural green tones, the Conservatory colorway includes mid-tone hues of sage, cypress and Bermuda grass, along with pops of emerald and malachite.
Spiced Up will be prominently featured within the Kim Salmela for Norwalk Furniture collection. The theme reflects warm spice tones including shades of turmeric, paprika, mustard and cinnamon unexpectedly combined with light blush and soft blues to create a fresh, yet casual color palette with a bit of an edge.
The Ebony & Ivory trend is achieved by the use of dark black fabrics paired with bright white base cloths and pops of color and delivers a bold statement with modern appeal. Pairing black as secondary color to the primary colorway – either as the background of a pattern or used as a contrasting accent color – this decorative trend can transform a traditional selection of fabrics into a decidedly modern presentation. Featured in Norwalk’s popular Twilight Bed Program and the Monterey Sleeper Ottoman, bold black colorways including Dimitria Abyss and Vagabond Liquorice pair with pops of citron, crimson, magenta, white and indigo.
The three textile trends will be on display at in Norwalk’s showroom at the Las Vegas Winter Market in Building A, space A225.
