Designers Allen and James Focus on Aspiring Local and Regional Artists

Veteran designers Stephanie James and Patti Allen of High Point interior design firm, Allen and James Designs, have been completing interior design projects with the addition of works by rising artists and artisans. Practicing in multiple genres from paintings to sculpture, local, regional and national artists are being sought by Allen and James and incorporated into design projects and show houses nationwide.

“Our design plans typically include a complete interior plan and that means the addition of original artwork,” said Stephanie James, co-owner, Allen and James. “We are constantly on the hunt for exciting new artists who are able to complement and complete a room’s story. The use of up and coming artists for this is exciting to both our team and the clients.”

Artwork by such artists as Windy O’Connor, who specializes in whimsical facial caricatures in mixed media or Justin Stabb of Stabb Designs who is known for sculptural geometric lighting pieces are examples of North Carolina artists being recognized by the designers. Artists specializing in graphic imagery to nature art located throughout the Southeast also are among those receiving attention and placements by the Allen and James Designs team.

“Art can be appreciated within a kitchen as much as a centerpiece over a mantle,” said Patti Allen, co-owner, Allen and James. “We are huge proponents of incorporating art when the budget allows. Curating works by aspiring artists makes it even more special.”

Access to works by local and regional artists recognized by Allen and James is available to the public in the firm’s retail facility located in the historic Sherrod in downtown High Point. Featured throughout the 4,000 square foot retail space and showroom are two- and three-dimensional pieces in contemporary to traditional styles and multiple genres.
