City Furniture Launches Eco-Friendly Seattle Collection

Florida retailer City Furniture has announced its new eco-friendly Seattle Collection made with 100% reclaimed wood certified by the international Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

As it launches the new furniture line, City Furniture is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in Florida for each sale of a piece from the Seattle Collection, which includes dining, living room and bedroom furniture designed with style and the environment in mind.

“The Seattle Collection line is the latest step in City Furniture’s 2040 Green Promise, our commitment to achieve a carbon neutral future for our company, while continually offering new choices to help our customers make their homes more comfortable, beautiful and sustainable,” said Andrew Koenig, president of City Furniture.

The new collection’s scale, clean lines and choice of on-trend finishes give customers the versatility to style rooms with a modern or more casual feel, based on their personal preferences. FSC certification assures customers that the furnishings’ wood is responsibly sourced in a way that allows forests to recover and thrive. The Seattle Collection is available in all of City Furniture’s major market showrooms and online at www.cityfurniture.com.

City Furniture’s eco-friendly home furnishings are growing as our customers increasingly make their values a key factor in buying decisions,” explained Koenig. “We aim to bring customers products that are good for the environment, ethically produced and right for today’s lifestyles.”

Koenig pointed to City Furniture’s Rest & Renew linen program as an example, and a great complement to the Seattle Collection. The Rest & Renew linen program is Oeko-Tex and Fair Trade certified, and it features organic cotton sheet sets that are GOTS certified, with linen/cotton blend duvet covers. The GOTS and Oeko-Tex organizations certify textiles as free from harmful chemicals.

To mark the Seattle Collection’s rollout, City Furniture is kicking off an ongoing partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation by donating funds to support the planting of 2,500 trees in the Withlacoochee State Forest in West-Central Florida. In addition, City Furniture will sponsor the Foundation’s planting of a tree in Florida for every piece of Seattle Collection furniture the company sells, beginning this month. Koenig said the company is also joining forces with the Foundation to create an urban tree-planting event in South Florida in 2020, with details to be announced soon.

Since 1972, the non-profit Arbor Day Foundation has worked with more than one million members and supporters to plant and distribute more than 350 million trees around the world.
