WaterMark Living Hosts Design Students During High Point Market

Casual resource WaterMark Living hosted a group of design students from Radford University, in Radford, VA., as a part of a student ASID-organized trip to the High Point Market last week. The students participated in a Lunch N Learn at the WaterMark showroom featuring Amanda Frisbee, a speaker from Sunbrella.

The stop at WaterMark’s showroom was a part of the group’s one-day trip to the home furnishings capital. Students at all levels, freshmen through senior, attended the trip. The Department of Design, which includes curriculums in Interior Design, Merchandising and Design Management, has been a part of Radford University for the past 20 years.

“Our educational sessions offer tremendous benefit to market goers,” said Chad Harper, national sales manager, WaterMark Living. “We were happy to extend this to students and introduce the concepts of outdoor design to future designers as the category continues to grow with their understanding of its significance.”

By attending the WaterMark event, the instructors and students looked to broaden their knowledge of outdoor living design as well as performance materials.

“We were excited to participate in this presentation within WaterMark Living on the topic of design of exterior spaces,” said Julie Temple, associate professor, Radford University. “The connection to outdoor design is a part of lessons that we offer within our department that focus on human factors and psychology of design. This experience for the students provided first-hand information with regard to designing for outdoor living.”
