Hooker Furniture’s Delgatti to Retire in February

Michael Delgatti, a senior executive at Hooker Furniture (NASDAQ: HOFT) since 2009, has announced he will retire in early February 2020.

Currently president of Hooker Domestic Upholstery brands and Emerging Channels, Delgatti has previously served as EVP of Corporate Sales, EVP and president of Hooker Upholstery and president of HFC. Prior to joining HFC, he spent over 25 years at major furniture brands Lane and Broyhill, where he served in executive sales, merchandising and operations roles. He also served as president of Clayton-Marcus and Southern Furniture.

“Mike’s been a Godsend, joining our company during the worst recession of our lifetimes and helping us through that difficult period in numerous ways,” said Paul B. Toms Jr., CEO. “He has contributed on so many levels in the 10 years he’s been here. First, he led merchandising at Bradington-Young, then led our domestic upholstery companies, and also our casegoods for several years. Today, the emerging channels of e-commerce, interior design, international sales and H Contract all report to him. It’s been great to have Mike’s steady hand at the helm, upholstery expertise in a primarily case goods company and to benefit from his great relationships across the industry.”

Reflecting on his years in the furniture industry, Delgatti said the overwhelming emotion he has is gratefulness. “It’s a great industry with a bright future, despite challenges in the last several years,” he said. “I feel so thankful to have worked here for one of the best companies in the industry, one that I feel has its brightest years still ahead.” One of the accomplishments he’s most proud of is “the opportunity to have been with Hooker during the Great Recession. It was a tremendous learning and growing experience, and it was gratifying to be part of helping the company come through that experience even stronger.”

Hooker will announce its plan for replacing Delgatti early next year.
