Hooker Furniture Adds 95 Pieces to Melange Collection

Hooker Furniture will add 95 new pieces to its Melange Collection at the Fall 2019 High Point Market. Merging its popular Accents category into the collection, the introduction is the largest addition in company history.

The globally inspired, eclectic collection of one-of-a-kind artistic accent pieces blends colors, textures and materials to create an assortment of versatile and timeless designs, inspired by four of today’s popular consumer lifestyle personalities including the Traditionalist, the Collector, the Individualist and the Sophisticate.

“Our accents category has primarily been our outlet for traditional styles and entry-level price points, whereas Mélange covers various price points and style categories with a primary focus on bringing special and unique pieces to the marketplace,” said Liz Adkins, merchandise manager for Hooker Furniture. “Our diverse customer base looks to us for unique styles across all categories and price points, making this a natural evolution. The merger will benefit both our retailers and design partners by allowing them to shop one simple portfolio that includes all of our accent items.”

Rooted in Hooker Furniture’s core value, the Traditionalist trend takes classic forms and adds an eccentric flare. This Market’s assortment features rustic wood, custom antique mirror applications and metallic shagreen details. The statement piece of this group, the Lafayette Desk, is a junior executive desk wrapped completely in metallic charcoal shagreen with custom cast aluminum hardware. This smaller scale desk has the function of an executive desk but is scaled to fit in many areas of the home.

Inspired by world travels, the Collector trend combines bold color choices and mixed styles that are pulled from various places across the globe. This trend features an assortment of wood pieces washed in whites and medium wood tones on thick oak veneers. Additional materials used to achieve this look are bone inlay, hand painted glass and the wide use of patterns.

The Tara Credenza highlights this trend with its black mango case and brass clad doors that resemble a honeycomb pattern. The doors feature a raised starburst overlay – also wrapped in brass – and brass hardware with blue agate inlay. Another statement item in the Collector lifestyle includes the Sorrell Three Drawer Chest with hand-painted glass inspired by the colors of the ocean in Bali. The chest has metal legs in a golden hue and golden metal framing around the case and each drawer.

The edgy Individualist trend is a fashion-forward home style. With materials including Terrazzo, marble decals and bright colors, the trend is highlighted by the Carey Accent Chest which features a quartered oak veneered case with white Carrera marble decal drawer fronts in an asymmetrical pyramid pattern.

The Sophisticate lifestyle trend is for the high-end “glam” consumer. Set in black and white, with a touch of high sheen lacquers, bright metallics and mother of pearl accents, the stand-out piece is the Carmen Bed. This bed is designed to make a statement with its warm brown and black faux horn frame and a tufted headboard in a caramel leather.

The new pieces will be on display in Hooker Furniture’s High Point Market showroom, space C-1058 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
